SERGEANT-MAJOR OLIFENT
Regimental Sergeant-Major Walter Reginald Olifent, wounded in action at the Dardanelles, is a South Australian, and was for many years employed in the law offices of Messrs. Gordon & Anderson in this city. He was an old member of D Company, 10th Infantry Regiment, in which he recruited, and served as private lance-corporal, corporal, sergeant, and color-sergeant. When occupying the last-mentioned position he qualified by examination for a staff instructorship, and was transferred to Victoria.
Until he left for Egypt Mr. Olifent, who is a warrant-officer, was attached to the 6th Infantry Brigade. His brother Roy is also at the Dardanelles with the 10th South Australian Infantry Regiment. Another brother, Captain Olifent, is secretary of the United Labor Party, while his father, Mr. Harry Olifent, will be remembered for nearly half a century in connection with the Postal Department of the General Post-office, Adelaide.
